IAB Europe’s GDPR Framework

May 13, 2024

First announced in November last year, IAB Europe launched its framework on April 25th in preparation for adhering to GDPR, which comes into effect on May 25, 2018.

The Transparency and Consent Framework is a cross-industry effort which intends to support publishers, tech vendors, agencies and advertisers meet the transparency choice and consent requirements of GDPR prior to it coming into effect.

Beginning on May 25th, companies are expected to be clear and concise about how they access and process data when complying with GDPR. GDPR applies to companies based in or outside of Europe who may have accessed personal data of users within the EU.

The framework includes technical specifications that give companies and consumers full visibility and greater control over who is allowed to process their data for advertising purposes.

Although other solutions are taking a conservative approach, IAB Europe’s framework provides flexibility for multiple business models and uses of data to ensure compliance, transparency and consent.

As a registered global vendor for IAB Europe, Venatus will adhere to the Transparency and Consent Framework. Venatus enables publishers, advertisers, agencies and site owners to source consent when using consumer data to measure activity on their sites and deliver relevant advertising and content online to all EU Citizens and companies within the EU whilst being GDPR complaint.
